Prior to moving to the USA, I’ve had a fairly successful musical career. My band, “The four Windows”,
performed on countless stages and even in some TV shows. In 1981, EMI offered us a record contract
and we produced an album and several singles. My composition, “Lonely Seagull”, became an
instrumental hit in Europe. Some of my other tunes were also featured in different Movies and Videos.
Today, I live in Naples, FL and still paint and frequently perform as musical entertainer under the name
“Wolfgang Peter Anthony”.
I’m originally from the Principality of Liechtenstein, which borders to Switzerland and Austria, but I grew up
mostly in Switzerland and France. In 1987, I’ve had definitely enough bad weather and cold winters. I wanted
to live somwhere where the sun shines most of the year and snow is something you see on TV or in movies.
So I moved to South Florida. I would have moved to Australia, but I hate driving on the left side of the road!
At first I lived in Key West, but later I relocated to Fort Lauderdale. After a long search, I was hired by Pan Am
in Miami, where I worked in in-flight services. On weekends, I performed as musician, either in bands or as
solo entertainer. I also painted a little, but not to the extend that I did before many of my paintings were
destroyed in a flooding in 1983. I only started painting seriously again in 2003, when a dear friend of mine
besieged me to paint her old father Ernest (then 94).
From 2005 on, some of my newer paintings were selected for juried exhibitions, like the "Emotions on the
Surface" and the "Founders Juried Awards Exhibition" at the Von Liebig Art Center in Naples, Florida. For the
"Emotions on the Surface" exhibition, which allowed a maximum of two entries per artist, both of my entries
were selected. "Helen" and "The Bride" were selected by the renowned art critic and art book author, Donald
Miller, and were prominently displayed in the main hall. The following year, my painting of a crying old man,
“The Loss”, was chosen for the Founder’s Juried Award Exhibition and became “most expressive painting”.
